Banner/Oracle Password Management
Using good password security is one important way that you can help protect University data. Your Banner (Oracle) account is secured by a password that is separate from the password that secures your MyGeorgiaSouthern (Active Directory) account because of the highly sensitive nature of the information contained in our Banner system. Keep reading to learn how to change your Banner password.
Managing Your Banner Password(s)
As part of our University password policy, you are required to change both your MyGS and Banner passwords every 180 days. As your password reaches its expiration, you’ll be notified via email so that you can proactively change your passwords in order to avoid disruption. However, you can change your Banner passwords at any time by following the steps below:
- Click the Manage Banner Password(s) link in the Personal Settings tile in your MyGS portal.
- Click the corresponding button to either change all of your Banner passwords or manage them individually.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to ensure that you meet the password requirements.
Banner serves as the Student Information System (SIS) for Georgia Southern. However, Banner is not the only system that uses the Banner/Oracle password. There are many other systems, including Business Objects, Xtender, and reporting functions (Excel, Crystal, etc.) that use the Banner/Oracle password, as well.
