Password Problems

Your password must meet the following requirements:

  1. You cannot re-use any of your last 20 passwords.
  2. Your password must include at least one upper case, at least one lower case, and at least one number.
  3. You must change at least 3 or more characters in your new password.
  4. You cannot have spaces in passwords.
  5. You may use only the following special characters: !]+[-:_?
  6. Passwords must have a minimum of fourteen (14) characters and maximum of twenty-five (25) characters.
  7. Passwords should not contain words that are in the dictionary.
  8. Passwords should not use any combination of letters of a user’s real name, username, initials or nickname.
  9. Password cannot be one of: welcome, database, account, user, password, oracle, computer, abcd
  10. **3 Failed log on attempts will lock the account
MyGeorgiaSouthern / Google

To reset your password go to My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu, login with your account, go to Personal Settings and change your password, which syncs to Banner. If you don’t know your password or have forgotten your password, please submit a MyTech Help Ticket or contact MyTech Support at 478-2287 OR helpdesk@georgiasouthern.edu .

 

**NOTE** Changing your MyGeorgiaSouthern/Google password automatically changes your password in B390 (PROD), B390T (UPGR), B390H (HOUSE) and B390R (DWPROD). However, it does not change the Unix Password on EAGLE104.

Banner

You have the ability to change your password individually for all Banner instances you have access to, including B390 (PROD), B390T (UPGR), B390H (HOUSE) and B390R (DWPROD), or you can change them all at once. View complete instructions on our Banner Password Change page.

If your banner account is locked, please enter a MyTech Help Ticket for assistance with getting your Banner account unlocked.

UNIX/WinSCP/Putty/Eagle104 Password

If you know your current UNIX password, please click on this link for instructions on changing your UNIX password Change Eagle104 UNIX Password.

  • If you have forgotten your UNIX Password, please submit a MyTech Help Ticket or contact MyTech Support at 478-2287 OR helpdesk@georgiasouthern.edu .

  • Business Objects

    Your Business Objects password is the same as your Banner password. If you have forgotten your Business Objects password, please see the instructions above to change your Banner password or submit a MyTech Help Ticket or contact MyTech Support at 478-2287 OR helpdesk@georgiasouthern.edu .

    Departmental Email Accounts

    If you have forgotten your Departmental Email password

    1. Go to My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu
    2. Click ‘Forgot Password?’ (on the right), at the portal login.
    3. Select ‘Student Organization/Departmental Account’.
    4. Enter the departmental email account.
    5. A 6-digit code will go to the account owner’s email, to be entered on the page.
    6. Enter a New Password.
    7. Re-Enter New Password.
    8. Click ‘Save’.

    People Soft

    Email BFIT Security at bfitaccounts@georgiasouthern.edu to have the account password reset.

    Web Pages – Departmental
    To reset your WordPress password, take the following steps:
     
    1. Navigate the WordPress login page ([subdomain].georgiasouthern.edu/?????/wp-login)
      Substitute your own subdomain name for [subdomain] portion of the address (e.g., coba, coe, students)
    2. Click on “Lost your password?”
    3. WordPress will send you a reset link in email.
    4. If you continue to experience problems with your WordPress credentials please contact your domain content owner.
    Student Organizations Email Accounts

    If you have forgotten your Student Organization Email password

    1. Go to My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu
    2. Click ‘Forgot Password?’ (on the right), at the portal login.
    3. Select ‘Student Organization/Departmental Account’.
    4. Enter the student organization email account.
    5. A 6-digit code will go to the account owner’s email, to be entered on the page.
    6. Enter a New Password.
    7. Re-Enter New Password.
    8. Click ‘Save’.
