Virtual Resources for Students
Sometimes it’s necessary to work, learn, and collaborate outside of the traditional classroom setting. The technology resources below can help you keep in touching keep progressing in your role as a student, faculty member, or staff resource when you can’t make it to campus. Keep reading to learn more about the virtual services available to you.
Whether you’re taking online classes or not, our Learning Management Software, Folio, is a great online resource for organizing your classes, staying up-to-date on announcements, and tracking due dates.
Students can utilize Zoom either through the Folio Online Rooms utility or by accessing the service in the MyGS portal.
We’ve created video tutorials to help you become familiar with some of our commonly used technology resources, including Folio, MyGeorgiaSouthern, and more!
Google Hangouts Meet
Chat, video call, and join meetings from the Meet app or on your desktop.
Upload, store, and share an unlimited amount of documents, spreadsheets, and files. You can access Google Drive from anywhere, so storing and sharing files is a breeze.
We offer a virtual computer lab environment that closely mirrors our physical computer labs. If you need to access software but can’t make it to a campus lab, our virtual labs offer a convenient alternative.
A number of software packages are available to download free of charge in the MyDownloads section of your MyGS portal. In addition to our typical offerings, we have been able to extend licensing for some software packages as part of the COVID-19 response.
ITS offers many resources to support virtual learning, teaching, and working. In addition to our Virtual Resources, we have begun collecting information regarding internet connectivity resources for those who may not have internet access.
In the event of an emergency or crisis, the Eagle Alert warning system keeps the University community informed with alert notifications.
