Student Quick Start Guide
Our Top Tech Tips for Students
Welcome to the Eagle Nation. We’ve got a few tips to help you get started with technology resources. Don’t see what you’re looking for or need further assistance? Feel free to contact us.
Whose Dashboard? Your Dashboard.
MyGeorgiaSouthern is your one-stop shop for all things “Georgia Southern.” Whether it’s reading news announcements, downloading free software, or taking a shortcut to email and other apps, you’ll love the convenience and flexibility this gateway provides.
GSWireless provides wireless access in classrooms, residence halls, administrative and auxiliary locations, and even some outdoor spaces. We have secure and guest networks as well as a network devoted to gaming consoles and smart TVs.
A service so popular it doesn’t need a clever title. All students at Georgia Southern have access to Zoom. You can meet virtually anywhere (we’re a sucker for a double entendre).
Spread Your Wings
WINGS is Georgia Southern’s Student Information System and allows you to register for classes, view your records, pay tuition, apply for Financial Aid, and that’s right… apply for graduation. Can’t wait to see you walk across that stage, Eagle!
Manage Your Folio
Whether you’re taking online classes or not, our Learning Management Software, Folio, is a great online resource for organizing your classes, staying up-to-date on announcements, and tracking due dates.
Trending Playlist: Technology Tutorials
We’ve created a series of video tutorials to help you become familiar with some of our commonly used technology resources. Not sure what you’re looking for? Subscribe to our YouTube channel to see tutorials as they’re added.
MyInvolvement is your digital gateway to engaging in campus news, organizations and events. Read the headlines, browse student organizations, or make plans to attend upcoming events–you can even search to see if free food or other free stuff is being given away!
Feed the Eagle in You
Your Eagle card serves as student identification but also allows you access to EagleXpress, a stored value plan that you can use at many stores and shops on campus and in the community. Deposit money, purchase a dining plan, and much more through your EagleXpress account located in the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal.
Down with Software Purchases
Your student technology fees provide you with access to free software, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, etc.), Endnote, Kumo, and much more. See the full list in the MyDownloads section of the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal.
Live the Suite Life
Georgia Southern is a Google partner school, which means that you have access to the G Suite of applications, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, and much more. It’s everything you need in one “suite” package.
The Georgia Southern App Store puts accessibility and convenience in the palm of your hands. Literally. Access MyGS Mobile, G Suite, Microsoft Office, Folio, Tapingo, Starbucks and many other campus and local services by downloading the App Store.
Adopt a Lab
Deciding between traditional computer labs, virtual labs and puppies is up to you. Utilize one of our campus computer labs if you’re on campus or learn how you can use Virtual Labs, our cloud lab environment, to access computer lab software from anywhere.
Of the remote control, that is. We offer cable TV services for on-campus residents. More into streaming? Connect up to five devices, including gaming consoles and smart TVs, with our GSWireless networks.
Preserves Over Jam
Printers can jam your documents, jam your wireless signal, and jam your pockets with receipts for expensive print cartridges. Preserve your funds and your sanity by using MyPrint, our no-cost student print solution. Georgia Southern students print for free, from anywhere.
