Preparing your Folio Course for a new semester

We’ve created a how to guide to help you get ready for the coming semester. Keep reading to learn how to prepare your courses in Folio, the Georgia Southern instance of D2L Brightspace.

New Integrations

All requests for new integrations for Folio must be submitted at least a month prior to the beginning of the term.

Crosslisting Requests

We recommend that you submit requests to have courses cross listed in Folio prior to beginning course preparation. All cross listing requests must be received prior to the first day of the term.

Course Preparation Checklist

The process for preparing your courses in Folio is documented in our Course Preparation Checklist below. To schedule additional assistance please email helpdesk@georgiasouthern.edu and we will contact you to make arrangements.

✓ Copy ✓ Update
Use our Copy Content Guide to import, export, or copy content to your new courses. Be sure to update your quiz, dropbox, and calendar dates in the new course.
✓ Confirm ✓ Verify
Confirm that Respondus, Turnitin, and other integrated items are set up correctly.  If you have publisher integrations*, verify that these are set up correctly in course spaces.
✓ Activate ✓ Explore
When all updates are complete and you’re ready for students to begin accessing your course, set it to “active” through the MyGS console or within the Folio course. *Technology assistance may be needed when updating newer versions of existing publisher course materials. To initiate this assistance, please submit a MyHelp ticket.
