Electronic Services Legend

Guide to Electronic Services

As part of the transition for electronic services for the new Georgia Southern University, some of the systems and software that you’ve become accustomed to using will shift during the migration process. The guide below is a legend that explains not only what these comparable systems are, but the timing of when you’ll begin using these. In ITS, our goal is to make this transition as efficient and intuitive as possible. If you have questions about electronic services not listed here, please reach out to our MyTech Support team for assistance.

Portal

The Port of Armstrong, which you currently use as a dashboard to access other services including SHIP, eClassroom, etc., will remain accessible through the Summer 2018 semester. The MyGeorgiaSouthern portal, which will become your dashboard for accessing many electronic services, will become available to you as part of your migration. For more information, please view our Migration Schedule.

Banner Student Information System

Currently, students use SHIP to register for classes, view registration and financial aid information, etc. Faculty and staff use SHIP for advisement and grade assignment purposes. This system will continue to be used for Armstrong and Liberty campus resources through Summer 2018. WINGS is the Banner SIS that you’ll begin using for the Fall 2018 term. It is nearly identical to SHIP but is accessible via the MyGeorgiaSouthern Portal. You’ll use WINGS for all the things you used SHIP for beginning with early registration for the Fall 2018 semester.

Google Applications

Students, faculty, and staff currently use Google applications for email, drive, calendar, etc. These services will continue to be available through your migration. Student migrations will take place according to the Electronic Student Services Map. Faculty and staff migration will take place according to the Migration Schedule. Following your migration, you may begin using Google applications, including email, via the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal. Questions about what content from your previous account will be migrated or when you should begin using these services? Check out our Migration Guide.

D2L Learning Management System

Your eClassroom environment, powered by Desire2Learn (D2L) will continue to be used for classes through Summer 2018. Continue to access this service through Port. eClassroom will get a facelift between the Spring and Summer terms and will have a more mobile-friendly, intuitive interface. Folio, which is also powered by D2L, will be used for Fall 2018 classes and will become accessible on July 30, 2018. You may access this service via the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal. Folio will undergo the same facelift as eClassroom and will look nearly identical to eClassroom when you begin using it.

OneUSG Connect

Through the end of the current fiscal year (June 30, 2018), Armstrong/Liberty employees and Statesboro employees will operate in separate instances of OneUSG Connect. While the system is the same, these instances will not be consolidated until July 1, 2018. Continue to log in to the Armstrong instance of OneUSG Connect using your Port credentials via the login page through June 30, 2018. Beginning July 1, 2018, all Georgia Southern employees will use the same instance of OneUSG Connect. The system is accessible via the MyGeorgiaSouthern portal. While MyGS credentials will be used to log in to the system, single-sign-on access through the portal makes a second login unnecessary. The system will look identical to the previous instance of OneUSG Connect.

Identification Card

The Pirate Card currently serves as an identification card for students, faculty, and staff on the Armstrong and Liberty campuses. In addition to official identification, the Pirate Card is also used for accessing facilities, meal plans, and other services. While you may obtain an Eagle Card beginning March 19, 2018, the card will continue to work until June 30, 2018. The Eagle Card will serve as your official identification card in the new University. The Eagle Card allows you access to a number of services including athletic events and EagleExpress. To read more about the services available to you, visit the Eagle Card Services web site.
