Click here for the schedule of Upgrade and Update weekends.

Windows Workstations on Thursday, November 17

Georgia Southern Enterprise Device Management Services (EDMS) will be making updates on all Windows workstations Thursday, November 17, 2016, beginning at 10:00pm.

These updates will improve security and performance and will affect Windows workstations only. If you have a laptop that is not connected directly to the Georgia Southern network on campus, your computer will be updated the next time you connect to the on-campus network or if you connect to the virtual private network (VPN) (please note: updates via the VPN may take longer than when connected on campus).

Reminder: Restarts take place during the restart window, which is between midnight and 4:00am each morning.

These updates will require a restart that will take place automatically during the next restart window. If your computer is turned off during this time, updates will be applied the next time you turn on your computer. Your machine will then be restarted during the next workstation restart window.

Software to be updated:

  • Windows security updates

To make the updates less likely to encounter conflicts, please follow these steps on Thursday, October 20, when you leave for the day:

  1. Save all of your work
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Do not log in
