The Techxpo Computer Shootout is a showcase for students and faculty/staff who enjoy building custom computers and pushing their creations to the limit. Anyone who wants to show off the beast of a machine they’ve built at home is welcome to participate. Prizes will be awarded to winners in three different categories: CPU Face-off, GPU Showdown, and Best in Show as voted on by the crowd. The winners in each category will receive a door prize for their selection as the winner.

Shootout Event Schedule

9:00am-10:00am:
Set up stations, last chance registration, voting opens at 10am for Best in Show.

10:00am-11:30am:
CPU Face-off

Participants will be competing against each other to see who will be able to gain the most performance over a stock baseline score. Participants will be asked to establish a baseline score of stock settings in 2 different CPU benchmark applications(HWBOT Prime, Cinebench R15). Then participants must establish an overclocked score to compare to their baselines. To calculate the winner and to insure entries with different CPU’s can compete together this equation will be used: Final Score = 100(OC score – Baseline score) / Baseline score. Whichever final score is higher of the two benchmark application will be used to determine the CPU Face Off winner.

11:30am-1:00pm:
GPU Showdown

Participants will be competing against each other to see who will be able to gain the most performance over a stock baseline score. Participants will be asked to establish a baseline score of stock settings in the benchmark Unigine Valley. Then participants must establish an overclocked score to compare to their baselines. To calculate the winner and to insure entries with different GPU’s can compete together this equation will be used: Final Score = 100(OC score – Baseline score) / Baseline score. Whichever participant has the highest final score will be declared the GPU Showdown winner.
