Goals of the Project Management Office (PMO) include:
  • Improve delivery of services by standardizing and coordinating project activities
  • Enhance decision making by increasing ITS portfolio alignment with University and ITS goals
  • Improve visibility into project benefits and impacts
  • Educate and support the implementation of project management
  • Assist in telling our Information Technology Services story through effective portfolio management
The PMO has the following responsibilities:
  • Publish project list
    • Project phase (Proposal, Discovery, Execute)
    • Delivery dates
  • Train project managers and stakeholders on PMO processes and tools
  • Show the value-add of IT Services by publishing metrics on project benefits (e.g. cost/time saved by implementing new system or technology)
  • Review projects to make sure established methodology and standards are followed
  • Ensure proper procurement methods are followed for projects
  • Monitor and report on late/at risk projects
  • Coordinate project closeout meetings and documentation of projects
  • Conduct process mappings for campus departments at their request
