IT Services’ Multimedia Development Center Receives SOAR Excellence Award
Each year Georgia Southern, through the Office of Orientation and Parent Programs, welcomes over 3,000 new students to campus as a part of SOAR. SOAR (Southern’s Orientation, Advisement, and Registration) gives students an opportunity to discover campus resources, learn about campus life, meet with academic advisors and register for classes. The Multimedia Development Center (MDC) works with SOAR leadership each year to produce a welcome video. The video has to communicate life at Georgia Southern in a fun but accurate way. This year, the MDC team was nominated and selected as a SOAR Excellence Award winner.
Logan Franks, Assistant Director of Orientation and Parent Programs, had this to say,
The Information Technology Services team has a visible role in welcoming each and every student, parent & guest, during SOAR, but you might never know the extent of their contribution. This team works with the SOAR Leader Welcome Committee to develop a Welcome video for SOAR every year. One nominator wrote “The IT Services team has a quick timeline each year to film, edit, and produce the SOAR welcome video. However, this tight timeline doesn’t compromise the video quality. The video is always professional and does a wonderful job of setting the tone for the incoming students.” Another nominator wrote “This team was amazing to work with. They provided lots of insight about how we should shoot the video, what scenes we should try, etc. They are rockstars.” Congratulations to the Information Technology Services team on being awarded a 2015 SOAR Excellence Award.
Congratulations to the Multimedia Development Center!
