The 2017 RFP for biomolecular simulations on the next generation Anton 2 machine has been released.
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC) is soliciting the next round of proposals for computer time on Anton, a special-purpose supercomputer for molecular dynamics simulation designed by D.E. Shaw Research (DESRES). A next-generation Anton machine (Anton 2) was installed at PSC in Fall 2016, replacing the original Anton system that was in production at PSC from 2010-2016 (Anton 1). This Anton 2 system, currently running biomolecular simulations from over 50 research groups across the nation, is approximately 4 times faster than Anton 1 and nearly 100 times faster than the previous state of the art. Anton 2 also supports simulations containing nearly 5 times as many atoms as Anton 1 (~700,000 atoms). The machine is made available without cost by DESRES for non-commercial research use by universities and other not-for-profit institutions.
