Migration Preparation Guide
In ITS, we’re committed to making your migration process as seamless as possible. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working to streamline and automate as many of our processes as possible in order to make your experience more efficient and convenient. We’ve also come up with a preparation guide to let you know how to gain access to services and what you can do before the migration process begins to gain efficiencies and ensure ease of transition.
MyGeorgiaSouthern is your gateway to technology resources at Georgia Southern University. Use our MyGeorgiaSouthern guide to learn more about the first-time user process, what services are available, and how you can customize your MyGS experience. Our tutorial videos give you instructions on how to access the MyGS portal, take you on a tour of the services offered, and share some great tips on how to optimize resources in the portal.
Email & Applications
Your new Georgia Southern email account and Google Drive are ready to use. Learn more about these resources via the Email & Applications guide, which contains important dates and instructions. Learn what information will be transferred, when this migration will take place, and so much more. We’ve also got information on Gmail for Mobile, optional email forwarding, and instructions for downloading shared Google Drive resources.
The Migration Process
Migration of Armstrong and Liberty campus student accounts will take place between May 7, 2018, and June 1, 2018. During this migration window all of the historical emails received in your Armstrong email account as well as all of your Google Drive assets will be transferred to your new Georgia Southern account. Listed below are a few optional steps that you may want to consider taking to prepare for your migration.

Many of the electronic processes that you’ve become familiar with, such as registration, the D2L Learning Management System, etc., will transition into the Georgia Southern environment over the coming months. If you’d like to see how these services compare, please view our Electronic Services Legend. If you’d like to see a timeline of when these transitions take place, please check out our Electronic Services Map.
