Lori Mayes – 2015 Award of Merit Recipient

Each year the Georgia Southern Staff Council sponsors the Staff Awards of Excellence Ceremony, which honors those that have dedicated many years to the service of the University with the Years of Service Award and those that have demonstrated exceptional service to others with the Award of Merit. Award of Merit nominees are employees who have improved the work environment, exhibited excellent customer service and shown true character and dedication to Georgia Southern’s mission.

Lori Mayes, Senior Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology, was recognized by the University as a Merit Award recipient on January 7, 2016.

Here are some comments made by Lori’s nominators: “[She] is always willing to help improve processes in IT Services, even if it means more work. She never turns down a task and is always eager to help in any way she can. Anytime there is a call for volunteers or a need for staff to go above and beyond, Lori is first to step up and offer a helping hand.”

“She is always pleasant, helpful, and willing to jump in whenever needed. No matter what the task at hand, Lori is always going to do whatever it takes to assist. Her attitude of service before self is evident in everything the nominee does.”

Dr. Steven Burrell said of Mayes, “I’m so proud of Lori and her servant leadership as she strives to make a difference for all of our students, faculty and staff at Georgia Southern.”

Congratulations, Lori! This is a well-deserved honor!
